Chiang Mai, Morning Cooking Class with Market Visit

Chiang Mai, Morning Cooking Class with Market Visit

Discover the secrets of Thai cooking with a morning cooking class in Chiang Mai. Visit a local market to shop for ingredients, cook Pad Thai, green curry, tom yum kung soup, and much more.

Begin with hotel pickup in Chiang Mai. Next, visit the local market to see the fresh ingredients on sale. Then, go to an organic garden and explore an organic farm. Learn how vegetables and herbs are grown in Thailand and pick some ingredients that you can use when you are cooking.

Afterward, go to the cooking studio to begin your lesson. Find out about the cooking skills used in Thai cuisine and practice them. Cook a total of 6 dishes. Choose to make an appetizer, soup, stir-fried food, and curry paste. Also, make some sweet local dessert after the main course.

Choose between Som Tam (papaya salad), Por Pia Thod (spring rolls), Larb Kai (chicken salad), or else Yam Woon Sen (glass noodle salad) as a starter. Decide which one you like the best, and then follow the instructions of the chef so you can learn how to properly make the dish.

Make either Pad Thai (Thai fried noodles), Pad See Ew (stir-fried chicken with fresh noodles), Kai Pad Med Mamuang Him Ma Pan (chicken with cashew nuts), or Pad Kaphao Kai (minced chicken with holy basil) for the main course, depending on what you would like to cook.

Also, make Soup Tom Yum Kung (hot and sour prawn soup), Tom Kha Kai (chicken soup with coconut milk), Tom Kha Je (vegan soup with coconut milk) or Tom Zap Kai (hot and sour with chicken). Choose to make either green, red, yellow, massaman, or Panang curry as well.

For dessert, make mango sticky rice with ice cream or Kuay Tod Deep-fried banana. At the end, eat the food you have made, and get a PDF recipe book so you can make these dishes at home. Finish up the activity with a drop-off back to your hotel.
